Community Ties Youth Provision at Oaken Grove

Our Youth Provision is delivered across four different groups which collectively aim to –

Support young people in accessing their community

Offering young people purposeful and exciting activities

We deliver weekly sessions during term time, as well as exciting project work and events throughout the year. Please read on for further information about each group –

TAKE A BOW Youth Theatre

Open during term time only – the first session is free to attend, simply contact us to book a taster

  • Every Saturday morning 9:30 – 11:30am Cost: 1.00 per session and £15.00 per term
  • Open for children and young people aged between 8 and 12
  • Delivered by a qualified drama practitioner with a current DBS check and first aid certificate
  • There is no audition process to join and no current waiting list
  • Regular performances and projects both inside and outside the Centre
  • Regular masterclasses including dance, mask theatre and puppetry
  • Tuck shop selling sweets, crisps and drinks

OPEN YOUTH CLUB

Open during term time only – the first session is free to attend, simply register on the door

  • Every Wednesday evening from 7:00 – 9:00pm.  Cost: £1.50 per session.
  • Open for young people aged between 10 - 14 years.
  • Delivered by trained youth workers with current DBS checks and first aid certificates
  • Activities include – baking and cooking, sport and games, film nights, craft groups and workshops
  • Regular community projects, events, and trips
  • Tuck Shop selling sweets, crisps, drinks.

DROP IN SERVICES

Open during term time and the summer holidays – all sessions are free to attend

  • Every Friday evening between 7:30 and 9:00pm
  • Open to young people aged between 13 and 18
  • Delivered by trained youth workers with current DBS checks and first aid certificate
  • Access support services, organised activities and café bar
  • Regular community projects, events and volunteer opportunities
  • Tuck shop selling sweets, crisps and drinks

OUTREACH SERVICES

Our youth provision also delivers activity outside of Oaken Grove Community Centre, through outreach and detached youth work in the community. We deliver sessions in parks and public spaces, as well as at other youth groups and provisions. If you are interested in an outreach session in your community group, school, or service, please get in touch.

VOLUNTEERING

We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to help us deliver our youth provision – you must be able to commit to helping weekly or fortnightly for at least 6 months.

You will receive full training, support and travel expenses.
